I collaborated with the Glued Laminated Timber Association of Australia (GLTAA) to develop a website that serves as a comprehensive resource for information on glulam products, industry standards, and member services. The primary objective was to create a user-friendly platform that reflects the association’s commitment to quality and provides valuable information to industry professionals and the public.

The GLTAA was another referral from an existing client, vicbeam, who I design & developed a website for wayback in 2014.

Design & Development

The website was built on the WordPress platform, utilising a clean and professional design to effectively convey the association’s mission. A responsive layout was implemented to ensure optimal viewing across various devices, providing users with a consistent experience whether accessed via desktop, tablet, or mobile. The design emphasises clarity and accessibility, aligning with the association’s standards and the needs of its audience.

Functionality

To enhance user engagement and provide valuable resources, the website incorporates several key features:

• Member Directory: A comprehensive list of GLTAA members, including manufacturers and importers of structural and non-structural glulam, facilitating networking and collaboration within the industry.
• Technical Resources: Access to technical data sheets and design aids related to architectural and engineering aspects of glulam, supporting professionals in their projects.
• Educational Content: Informative sections about glulam, its history, applications, and compliance with building codes, educating visitors on the benefits and standards of glued laminated timber.
• Contact Form: An easy-to-use form for inquiries, enabling effective communication between the association and interested parties.

Content Structuring

Content was organised using custom post types and taxonomies to ensure information is presented logically and intuitively. This structure aids in easy navigation, allowing users to find relevant information efficiently. Clear headings, concise paragraphs, and bullet points enhance readability, catering to a diverse audience seeking information on glulam and industry standards.

Performance Optimisation

To ensure fast load times and optimal performance, several strategies were implemented:

• Image Optimisation: Compressing and resizing images without compromising quality to reduce load times.
